The US President Joe Biden has announced new sanctions against Russia. He also announced that the G7 will impose new sanctions on a growing number of Russian oligarchs and their families.
“The G7 is also putting pressure on Russian billionaires. We are adding new names to the census of oligarchs and their families. They support Putin, steal from the Russian people and try to hide the money in our countries. They are part of the kleptocracy that exists in Moscow and must be part of these sanctions. Russia will pay a high price”, said Biden from the White House.
He said the import of seafood, vodka and diamonds from Russia and the export of luxury goods to Russia would be banned.
He added that the United States would abolish the status of “permanent normal trade relations” with Russia, which would mean that the United States would impose tariffs on a wide range of Russian goods.
